For most of us, we are crises meditators, we are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, maybe some big life event has happened, maybe we are just fed up with life and we realise that we need another way of being, maybe we have burnt out or are close to it and were starting to realise that there has to be a way to relieve some of these symptoms, to calm ourselves down, so that we don\u2019t get so stressed out about even the small stuff, or to find ways of dealing with the big life events that we cannot control. We may realise that we need help to not feel overwhelmed with life in general and our never-ending to do list, and there is. Meditation. The
antidote to stress. Just like yoga there are many different forms of meditation, there are so many techniques to explore in meditation, and what I hope to do in our meditation course is offer you some of the tools and techniques that we use to help us self sooth, to become more aware (in the present moment) of what is happening in our bodies, in our hearts and in our minds. I personally found meditation really challenging, sometimes I still do, but even if my mind is all over the place during my practice it is the technique of bringing myself back to my breath\/whatever I\u2019m focussed on that day in a really kind, non judgemental way. I realise that
for that period of time I\u2019ve been quiet, taken some time in stillness, connected to my breath and the silence within and quietened my sometimes seriously overthinking brain down, just a bit!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the past when I was crises meditating I came to the realisation that life functioned much better when I was meditating, I was able to deal with whatever stressors were happening at that time, I had a bit more clarity and also was less likely to feel overwhelmed in general, then life would go back to normal and I\u2019d forget to meditate until the next crisis. I started consistently (daily meditating) over six years ago when my marriage broke down, and upped my meditation practice to twice daily during the stress of divorce and have kept this practice up since then.
Then I met my meditation teacher Davidji, and he introduced me to even more meditation and stress relieving techniques which I am so so happy to share with my students. You don\u2019t have to sit with your legs crossed, you don’t have to be or do anything, just show up to the practice with an open mind and heart and watch how life and your ability to deal with life’s stressors improve.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
